In the Ludhiana district, the procurement agencies have procured 730344.7-MT wheat from the grain markets, which is around 99% of the arrived crop. In the last 48 hours, 104.3 % of the procured stock has also been lifted, and payments worth Rs 1548.8 crores have been made to the farmers.

Ludhiana, May 2, 2024: The Ludhiana administration has been ensuring a smooth and hassle-free procurement season with the purchase of 99% of wheat and lifting of 104.3 % in the last 48 hours. Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney reiterated that the district administration is committed to completing the procurement season without any inconvenience to the farmers. She said that the focus was on spot procurement of the crop to ensure that the farmers don't face any problems. A robust mechanism is in place to make sure that the crop is procured and lifted as soon as it arrives in the markets. Officers have undertaken regular visits to the grain markets, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free wheat procurement season.
