Ludhiana Administration’s new initiative ‘vaccine at doorsteps’ to cover maximum beneficiaries
Special camps to be held in different areas to facilitate people for vaccination near to their homes
Ludhiana: Amid the sharp uptick in the Covid-19 cases in Ludhiana, the district administration on Friday has launched a unique initiative ‘Vaccine at Doorsteps’ to inoculate a larger population in a short period to break the transmission chain of virus.
Inaugurating the first camp organised with the efforts of area councillor Mamta Ashu and area resident Dr SB Pandhi in the Partap Colony Park, Pakhowal Road, here, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma along with Municipal Councillor Mamta Ashu, said that as per experts, the second wave of Coronavirus is more intense and infectious so it becomes more significant to provide the shield to the maximum population by vaccinating them.
He said under the ‘Vaccine at Doorsteps’ initiative, there is no need to go and stand in the queue at the vaccination centre as now health teams will visit particular area/factory/village/residential society or private establishments for which the need is just to dial up administration for vaccination camp in their localities or premises.
Deputy Commissioner disclosed that the administration will send the health teams to vaccinating all eligible at all places from where it would receive the call.
Urging the people to shun hesitance and embrace the vaccine, Sharma stressed that our scientists have left no stone unturned to develop the vaccine and accepting it social responsibility towards the nation, we should get the vaccine at the earliest to save the precious lives from the pandemic.
He said when there was no vaccine, people were drying in large numbers and praying for vaccine and now the vaccine is here, the people must come forward to get a jab to win the war against the pandemic.
Soliciting wholehearted support of the people, Municipal Councillor Mamta Ashu said this is the best system for people as instead of standing in a queue and wasting time, health teams will vaccinate at their doorsteps.
Dr Bishav Mohan from DMCH said that we need to expedite the inoculation drive amid the sudden spurt in the Covid cases, especially among the younger population so all entitled must take benefit of this drive to get Covid shot.
ADC (D) Sandeep Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhjeevan Kakkar, DIO Dr Kiran Gill, besides several others were also present on the occasion.
