Ludhiana Branch of VLCC observes Anti-Obesity Day

Ludhiana, November 26, 2012:Likewise previous years, Anti-Obesity Day was observed at Ludhiana Branch of VLCC today.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest Dr. Rama Sofat  Gynocologist while addressing the clients of VLCC  said, Changing lifestyle, lack of balanced food, and minimum exercise have made women of today
vulnerable to all possible side effects of Obesity e.g. Hypertension , Diabetes CVD etc.
Launching  the Knowledge paper Dr. Khera a well known Orthopaedic of the city present  highlighted the fact Osteoporosis ranks second to Cardiovascular disease, hence it becomes very imp to take  pro-active
approach towards this medical problem and myth that excess fat in the body is helpful for protection of bones does not stand.
Participating in Anti obesity drive Area technical Head of Punjab zone centres, Ashwinder highlighted the associated increased risk of hypertension, diabetes CVD, osteoarthritis, PCOD and other disorders
due to Obesity a dominant lifestyle disease  is catching up very fast.

Dr. Megha, centre physiotherapist gave demonstration on fitness activities to all present on the occasion along with display of highly nutritive recipe in the centre.

On the occasion, VLCC, at its Ludhiana branch released a Knowledge paper on Waist-Height Ratio  (WHtR) and Body Fat % Synergy as a more practical and perfect Health tool for identifying Risk of Obesity at
an early stage.  For self analysis of one’s health status with regard to Obesity this tool ascertains a linkage between Waist circumference –to- Height Ratio and obesity.  This was because medical cases namely
Hypertension, diabetes, hypothyroid increased after the cut off WHtR valve.
It may be mentioned here that thirteen years ago, VLCC took the first step in creating wider awareness among audience at large about ill-effects of obesity by observing Anti-Obesity Day on November 26
every year going forward.
