Ludhiana, December 6, 2017: Deputy Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal today exhorted the residents of district to donate generously for commemorating the Armed Forces Flag Day on December 7.

In an appeal issued to the people, the Deputy Commissioner said that the funds raised from the collection on Armed Forces Flag Day was aptly utilized for ensuring the well being of the Armed Forces Personnel. He said that The Armed Forces Flag Day commemoration and the collection of funds through distribution of flags was a noble way for us to express our gratitude and appreciation to the serving and veteran military personnel and to acknowledge those who attained martyrdom in service to the country.

Mr. Agrawal said that Flag Day gains more significance as it was the moral responsibility of the civilian population of India to take care of the families and dependents of the armed forces personnel who fight for the country.

Recalling the stellar role ofthe Indian Armed forces in protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country, the Deputy Commissioner said that every citizen has a soundsleep back at their homes because they were aware that valiant soldiers were safeguarding the borders of the country. He said that it was a well known fact that every soldier who joins the Armed forces has a firm determination to render selfless service towards the nation.

Mr. Agrawal said that people should play a proactive role to ensure that more and more funds were collected for the Armed Forces Flag Day so that they could be send to the concerned department for ensuring the well being of serving and veteran brave hearts besides their family members.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the funds donated for this noble cause were exempted from the Income Tax. He also said that a function would be held on December 7 in the district to commemorate this national day and to pay homage to our great soldiers.
