Ludhiana District Administration issues firecracker selling licenses through draw
The administration had received a total of 389 applications from people interested in selling crackers
Ludhiana: Complying with the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court of clean and green Diwali by allowing a limited sale of crackers, the district administration on Tuesday, held a draw for issuing 41 temporary licenses to the people for selling the firecrackers in different areas of the district.
Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma said that as many as 41 vendors have been allowed to sale the crackers at eight earmarked sites in the district. He said that the administration had received a total of 389 applications from people interested in selling crackers.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner said that of total 75 applications received for Dana Mandi Salem Tabri 13 licenses have been allocated, while 93 applications were received for GLADA Ground in Sector 39 of which nine vends were given licenses.
He said that, similarly, 53 applicants had applied to set up firecracker vends at Model Town of which five were issued licence while 69 applications were received for GLADA ground Dugri of which four vends were issued licenses. He said that three persons had applied for Lodhi Club and the trio have been issued licenses.
Whereas, in Hambran and Khanna, of total 31 and 43 applications respectively three each get licenses to sell firecrackers while in Jagraon only one license was allocated while 22 applicants had applied.
