Ludhiana Industry holds successful interaction with MP Arora
Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Punjab) held an interaction meeting with MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora here on Wednesday late evening.
Ludhiana, May 30, 2024: Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Punjab) held an interaction meeting with MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora here on Wednesday late evening.
During this interaction meeting, the industrialists highly appreciated Arora for considering their demands raised in the previous meeting held last year. Industrialists said they are really grateful to Arora for not only considering their demands but also taking them at all suitable platforms including with the state and the central government besides highlighting many issues in Rajya Sabha. Most of the issues taken up in last meeting were either resolved or are in stage of completion. They pointed out that the most appreciable thing is that Arora is in the habit of doing regular follow-ups with the concerned Ministries and departments. They further mentioned that Arora always kept on apprising them with the latest developments about the pending issues.
In the last evening’s meeting, the industrialists raised many fresh and pending issues concerning to state government and central government as well. These issues were raised during a panel discussion. The issues that were highlighted during interaction included encroachments along the roads, poor living standard due to pathetic condition of vehicular traffic and air pollution, heavy penalties being imposed by the PSPCL on installation of submeters, shortage of labour, lack of quarters for the industrial labour, delay in giving approval of building plans for industries, implementation of hypothecation tax and disconnection of complete power connection in case of violation found by the PPCB.
The issues related to Income Tax Department and GST were also raised by the industrialists. A demand was raised to set up mega textile park in the city for giving a boost to textile industry. It was also demanded that an exhibition centre should be set up at Ludhiana. A demand was raised that an evening train should be run between Delhi and Ludhiana to cater to the demand of trade and industry. it was also demanded that solid waste centres should be set up in Focal Point and Industrial Areas to further encourage Swacch Bharat Scheme.
In his address, Arora narrated many works that have been completed. He said many works are under progress and many others are in the pipeline due to his initiative. He said he could not speak much because election code is there. He said he has already given a big push to many projects such as Halwara Airport, upgradation of civil hospital and ESI Hospital, four bridges on Sidhwan Canal and upgradation of Ludhiana and Dhandari Kalan railway stations. He said he has already got resolved the issue of imported Chinese fabric to some extent after fixation of price. Elevated road project has been speedily completed. Besides, he has been working for the setting-up of 21-Kms-long-cycle track in Ludhiana and RoB on Doraha-Neelon road. Most of the Focal point roads have been reconstructed. He assured that he would keep on working for the growth of industry in the future also.
Ram Niwas Goel, Speaker, Delhi Vidhan Sabha was also present on the occasion. He said he is happy to learn that the local industrialists are satisfied with the working of Arora. He said the AAP has ten members in Rajya Sabha who are raising public issues in the Upper House. He said there is also a need to elect the AAP candidates for the Parliament. He asked the industry and people of Punjab to elect the AAP candidates with thumping majority in the Lok Sabha elections.
Among others, Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Punjab) president Rajnish Ahuja and convenor Rahul Ahuja also spoke. The industrialists who actively participated in panel discussion and Q&A Session included Amit Thapar, Ajit Lakra, Sudershan Jain, Gaurav Sehgal, KK Garg and Sandeep Jain.
