Ludhiana, September 26, 2013: Ravinder Singh, Chairman, PPCB accompanied by Member Secretary, Dr. Babu Ram, Kamlesh Garg and Kulwant Singh, Senior Environmental Engineers, on Wednesday held meeting with key representatives of Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings, Ludhiana Effluent Treatment Society and United Cycle Parts & Manufacturing Association, Ludhiana and urged the Industrialists to make every possible efforts to control the pollution level from their Industrial Units. He requested the industrialists to cooperate fully in reducing pollution level drastically while implementing measures as under:
• All those Industrial Units who are yet to become member of LETS; should get membership by 15th October’ 2013 so that they are eligible to get their effluents lifted by JBR.
• New VDS Scheme is likely to be introduced upto 31-12-2013. Consent fee for the same; is applicable from 2010 onwards.
Regarding problems being faced by Industrialists for approval of site plan, the Chairman ensured to hold meeting with Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana for working out amicable solution.
He stated that in case of harassment by any official of his Department necessary action will be taken against such employee.
He advised not to pass on the effluents of their Units in the sewerage line which is totally unjustified. He said all Units registered with JBR can supply any quantity of effluent which is more than the contract.
The Industrialists assured the Chairman that they will make every possible effort to control the pollution level from their Industry and adhere to the guidelines of PPCB.
The delegation comprised of Avtar Singh, General Secretary, CICU & CEO, LETS, Upkar Singh, Joint Secretary, CICU and Director, LETS, Manjit Singh Khalsa, Coordinator, UCPMA, Charanjit Singh Vishwawkarma, President, UCPMA and General Secretary, LETS, Joginder Kumar, Manmohan Singh Ubhi , Rajan Gupta and Varinder Kapoor.
