Ghumar Mandi Market Road and National Road to be developed as smart road: Ashu
Work regarding retrofitting and development of these roads to start shortly
Ludhiana: Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu today informed that under the Ludhiana Smart City Ltd, the Ghumar Mandi Market Road and National Road would be developed as smart roads for the welfare of residents. He said that the total cost of this project is Rs 18.93 crore.
In a press statement issued here today, Mr Ashu said that this project have been selected for smart road along with model market which includes providing dedicated space for all utilities, pedestrians and incorporation of landscape, cycle track, underground electricity services etc. He said that both these roads are frequented by a large number of people from other districts/states as well and that is why, these roads would be developed as smart roads so that it presents a good picture.
He informed that in the next phase, Mall Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Deepak Hospital Road, Kochar Market Road, College Road, Ishmeet Singh Road, Club Road, Mandir-Gurudwara Road in Sarabha Nagar would also be developed as smart roads. He said that the work on Malhar Road is going on in full swing and would be completed soon.
Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu stated that he would personally monitor the progress of all the projects under Ludhiana Smart City on weekly basis and warned that strict action would be taken against officials if there is any lapse on their behalf.
He further said that the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is committed for carrying out overall development of the state. He said that the projects under Ludhiana Smart City project would be completed on priority basis and within the set time frame.
