Ludhiana, October 3, 2013: The seven-day-old issue of ongoing confrontation over parking of vehicles inside the yellow line between the Mata Rani Road shopkeepers and Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) was finally resolved on Thursday.
A mutual understanding was arrived at a joint meeting held between the opposite parties.
Speaking to City Air News here this evening, Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal state secretary Mohinder Aggarwal told that the MCL authorities agreed to allow parking of two-wheelers inside yellow line marked outside the shops on Mata Rani Road. The yellow line was being marked 6-ft ahead of extended platforms (as per the MCL permission given way back in the year 1993-94) outside the shops.
The shopkeepers and traders said they would not object to action if taken against those found parking outside yellow line. The concerned market’s shopkeepers also agreed to employ at least four private personnel to manage and regulate proper parking inside yellow line, said Aggarwal, adding the MCL authorities even agreed that police personnel would also assist in the cause.
The meeting was attended among others by Additional Municipal Commissioner Davinder Singh, Zonal Municipal Commissioner Kamlesh Bansal, SDO RP Gupta, SAD leader Madan Lal Bagga, Municipal Councillor Krishan Kharbanda, Mohinder Aggarwal, the Mandal’s state general secretary Sunil Mehra, Charanjit Bhargav, Neeraj NK, Davinder Jolly, Vijay Kumar Chopra, Surinder Singla, Manpreet Singh Bunty and Jagdish Sidhana.

There are around 75-80 shopkeepers on the Mata Rani Road.

The shopkeepers were holding protest for the last seven days as neither they nor their customers were being allowed the parking of vehicles inside the yellow line, as result of which the shopkeepers were suffering a huge loss, even the state government suffered a revenue loss of Rs. 40-Rs.45 lakh in the last about a week’s time.
