LUDHIANA HEADS TOWARDS ACHIEVING 100 PERCENT TARGET OF PROVIDING DRINKING WATER SUPPLY AND CONSTRUCTING TOILETS
LUDHIANA, June 14 (000): Determined to provide clean drinking water and environment under Mission ‘Tandrust Punjab’ , brainchild program of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the water supply and sanitation department has prepared a roadmap to give facilities of supply of clean water and constructing toilets in each house of the district.
Divulging the information, the executive engineer Amrit Pal Singh Gill told that before Mission ‘Tandrust Punjab’, the 8582 household were identified who had no facility of clean drinking water in Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna scheme out of which 7253 beneficiaries were given the connections of water supply and remaining 1329 eligible families are also being covered.
He disclosed that similarly, 257 applications were received for the construction of toilets and 98 families got the toilets. He said that outstanding 159 households will get the toilets soon.
Gill added that under Tandrust Punjab, the awareness activities are being carried out in the villages for stopping water wastage, improved sanitation facilities and encourage the villagers to have a genuine water connection so that they can get clean water through pipes.
The Executive Engineer told that water is an essential element of our lives and the awareness drive is aimed to save the nature’s gift for our coming generations.
