Ludhiana News- Rare surgery in Mohandai Oswal Hospital gives good quality life to Cancer patient

Ludhiana, October 1, 2013: Patient Gurmeet Kaur (Samrala) came to Hospital on august 21 this year with complaint of continuous  passage of stool and urine from vagina. She was diagnosed case of Ca. Ovary with  local recurrence with rectovaginal and vesicovaginal fistula. Patient was refused surgery at various hospitals. At last she was advised to go to Mohandai Oswal Hospital, Ludhiana. She was taken up for total pelvic exenteration in which ovarian tumor along with urinary bladder, sigmoid colon, rectum anal canal and vagina were removed followed by re-construction with urinary ileal conduit and end colostomy. Surgery lasted for ten hours and was done by team of Doctors comprising Dr. G. S. Hara (Onco- Surgeon), Dr. Tejinder Kaur (Gynae-Oncologist), Dr. B. K. Mohindra (Anesthetist) and their team.

During surgery patient was transfused nine units of blood.
