Tenders for all weather indoor swimming pool at Rakh Bagh issued: Ashu
Informs Guru Nanak Stadium to have new athletics synthetic track, all existing sports facilities at Shastri Hall, basketball stadium, table tennis to be upgraded under Ludhiana smart city project
Ludhiana: Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu today informed that for the benefit of city residents, especially youth, the tenders of all weather indoor swimming pool have been issued under the Ludhiana Smart City Ltd and the work regarding this is expected to start shortly.
Mr Ashu informed this while chairing the review meeting of projects under Ludhiana Smart City Ltd at MC Zone D office, here today. This meeting was also attended by Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, MC Commissioner Mr Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, MC Additional Commissioner-cum-CEO Ludhiana Smart City Ltd Mr Sanyam Aggarwal, besides several others.
Mr Ashu informed this the all weather indoor swimming pool has been a long pending demand of the Ludhiana residents and it is being developed with a cost of Rs 5.79 crore at Rakh Bagh Sports Complex. He said that the DPR of this project has been approved and the tenders for this project were issued on July 3, 2020 and the work is expected to start shortly. He said that with the start of this project, the swimming enthusiasts of Ludhiana would be able to avail swimming facilities round the year.
He further informed that all existing sports facilities in the city would be strengthened. These include a new athletics synthetic track at Guru Nanak Stadium, development of basketball court and badminton courts at Shastri Hall, Table Tennis stadium, besides all others.
Besides this, a sports park is being developed at the 30-acre dump site in Jainpur village of district Ludhiana with cost of Rs 52.74 crore. He said that this sports park would have playgrounds for cricket, football, hockey, lawn tennis etc.
While issuing strict instructions to the staff, Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu stated that he would personally monitor the progress of all the projects under Ludhiana Smart City on weekly basis and warned that strict action would be taken against officials if there is any lapse on their behalf. He also appreciated Mr Sanyam Aggarwal for the progress shown over several projects.
He further said that the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is committed for carrying out overall development of the state. He said that the projects under Ludhiana Smart City project would be completed on priority basis and within the set time frame.
