Ludhiana News/Documentary on development model at Chakkar village to be telecast on Dec 1

Ludhiana, November 30: A documentary prepared on development model of Chakkar village in Ludhiana district will be telecast at 6 pm on December 1 on Doordarshan. The villagers with the help of NRIs hailing from their village have converted the village-pond to artificial lake.
This information has been given by District Congress Committee (Rural), president Malkit Singh Dakha.
This project has not only settled down the problems related to drainage of water and sewerage but also helped in irrigating the fields with storm water. Impressed with the initiative taken by the Chakkar village’s two NRI brothers, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari has already released a grant of Rs.20 lakh to the village concerned out of his MPLAD Fund. Tewari had directed Doordarshan to prepare a documentary on the development model of Chakkar village, so that other villages might go ahead in this direction.
