Ludhiana News/FIEO opens its New Punjab Chapter office in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, December 12, 2013: Eighty percent of the Punjab Export is from Ludhiana and there was a need to have a focused office looking after the interest of the exporters in Punjab. Keeping this interest in mind FIEO has recently opened up its Punjab Chapter office at Ludhiana informed S.C.Ralhan, Regional Chairman (Northern Region), FIEO. He was speaking at a Workshop on Practical Aspects of Letter of Credit organised by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) on Thursday at Ludhiana.
In his welcome address he assured the exporters to give value added services and take up the issues with the concerned authorities in a timely manner.  Ralhan mentioned that Letter of Credit is an important document in the international trade. Even though its usage has come down but understanding its nitty gritty is very important and with this objective the first workshop on the subject after opening the Punjab Chapter has been organised by FIEO. He informed that FIEO is an apex trade promotion body set up by Ministry of Commerce, Govt of India and has been making concerted efforts in promotion of exports from the country.
Ralhan informed that FIEO does series of seminars and workshops on a pan India basis to strengthen the exporting community and also take up the issues/grievances of the exporters. He invited suggestions/issues of the exporters so that the same can be taken up by FIEO and assured for its timely representation by the Federation. He also apprised organising various such sessions on a regular basis in the state of Punjab and one such session “Power to Present” to hone the presentation skills of the executives for success in business is proposed in the first week of January.
Darshan Singh, Joint DGFT in his remarks congratulated FIEO for opening the office in Ludhiana to cater to the needs of Punjab based exporters. He complimented FIEO for taking such initiative. He informed that Knowledge is Power and FIEO is doing the right job in imparting the same to the business enterprises. He informed that FIEO is a very professional body who has a good standing all across the country and is regularly taking the representations of the exporters and look after their interest in a very competent manner. He also apprised that FIEO regularly organises various seminars/workshops on various useful subjects on International Trade and the businessmen of Punjab must make use of the same.
Harpal Singh, Field General Manager, Punjab National Bank in his remarks mentioned that although the usage of LCs has come down but it is still recommended to avoid any hazards. He apprised that PNB has opened its branch at integrated check post in Atari and the branch can be used for doing business with Pakistan. He assured that with 650 branches in Punjab, PNB is well established to look after the business interest of the enterprises.
Detailed presentation on Letter of Credit was given by Prof (Dr) M.P.Singh, an expert on the subject who came from Delhi and apprised the participants on the various practical aspects of the instruments with live case studies.
