Ludhiana (Rural) Police arrest 2 under NDPS Act

Ludhiana, August 8, 2018: While briefing the press, Varinder Singh Brar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana (Rural) stated that in the campaign regarding drive against drugs, on the direction of Rupinder Kumar Bhardwaj, SP Investigation and under the supervision of Buland Singh PPS, DSP HQs and Insp.Lakhbir Singh Incharge CIA Jagraon, on prior secret information, ASI Chamkaur Singh and ASI Jarnail Singh alongwith other police personnel were present at Canal Bridge Sudhar and a secret informer gave a secret information that one Satpal Singh @ Sattu resident of Kotli(Kulgehna) and Surinder Singh @ Shindu r/o Khurshaidpura PS Sidhwan Bet are smuggling the poppy husk in the area and they purchased the poppy husk from outer States and are supplying the same at Sudhar, Dakha and Sidhwan Bet. Today, they brought the poppy husk from other state are coming from Barnala side in their I20 Car (No.PB 10 GN 8723).
On this information, on checking two bags of poppy husk was recovered from the car. On checking, the bags containing the poppy husk (52 Kgs) were recovered from the bags.
On this recovery, an FIR under the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sudhar. The accused will be produced before the concerned court and could lead to more disclosures, said the police.
