Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam to celebrate 25 years with “Three Divas” performance, produced by Serendipity Arts

Ludhiana, September 12, 2024: Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam (LSS), a non-profit cultural organisation founded by Sunil Kant Munjal, is to celebrate 25 years of promoting art and culture in Ludhiana. To mark this milestone, LSS is hosting a spectacular musical event titled ‘Three Divas’, produced by Serendipity Arts. The performance will feature iconic singers Usha Uthup, Shubha Mudgal, and Aruna Sairam, sharing the stage for the first time ever, with the show curated by acclaimed percussionist Bickram Ghosh.

Stating this at a press conference here on Thursday, LSS general secretary SK Rai added the event will be held on September 13 (7pm onwards) at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, Ludhiana. He said the 2-hour musical extravaganza will highlight some of the most popular songs by these legendary artists, as well as a few fresh compositions, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the audience. In addition to the Three Divas, the performance will feature a talented ensemble of musicians including Aneesh Pradhan (Tabla), Sankhadeep Chatterjee (Dholak), B.C. Manjunath (Mridangam), Padma Shankar (Violin), Sudhir Nayak (Harmonium), Murad Ali (Sarangi), Rhythm Shaw (Guitar), Raja Narayan Deb (Keyboards), Mainak Nag Chowdhury (Bass), Hrishikesh Datar (Drums), Nitin Joshi (Sound Engineer), Rahul Joglekar (Light Designer), Opening Chant writer - Sugata Guha, edited by Shubha Mudgal; and Encore writers - Bickram Ghosh (English), Sutapa Basu (Hindi).

Curator Bickram Ghosh commented on the event, saying, “I am delighted to be presenting Three Divas, a thrilling convergence of three legendary voices, each representing a unique musical genre. While putting together this curation, my guiding light was the idea that this concert is not just a celebration of their individual talents but a powerful testament to the beauty of diversity in music. Usha Uthup, Shubha Mudgal, and Aruna Sairam break conventions, embody the avant-garde spirit, and revolutionize the portrayal of women in performance.”

Following its debut in Ludhiana, the Three Divas performance will travel to Goa in December as part of the ninth edition of the Serendipity Arts Festival, giving audiences across India an opportunity to witness this extraordinary collaboration.

Iconic singers Usha Uthup, Shubha Mudgal and Aruna Sairam also interacted with the media persons and told that they were in the city since yesterday and doing rehearsal for tomorrow’s event. They hoped that the audience will enjoy their live performance in the stage.
