Ludhiana sportspersons celebrate Indian Hockey victory

Ludhiana: India’s Hockey victory for Olympic Bronze was celebrated at Guru Nanak stadium with great fervour. Hundreds of youth cheered the Indian Olympic contingent, particularly the Indian Hockey team which won a medal after 41 years with 11 players from Punjab. 

Present on the occasion were officials of District Basketball Association and PBA who organized the event, many coaches from District Sports Department.

Teja Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary, PBA while complementing the Hockey Team said that the team spirit and dedicated hard work made them to the victory stand in Tokyo Olympics. Yurinder Singh Hayer, Senior Vice President of PBA said that Punjab youth has all the capabilities to achieve greater heights. 

Brij B.Goyal, Treasurer of DBA requested the Punjab Government to give good jobs to hockey players and others from Punjab immediately without hassles after they return from participation in Tokyo. This will motivate other parents to send their wards to playgrounds at an early age. He also wanted sports to be made a compulsory subject in schools.

An NGO at Ludhiana also felicitated the gathering of young players with almond milk drinks in abundance at the occasion.
