Ludhiana tops in Punjab in vaccination drive by administering highest ever 82677 doses in a single day
DC hails collective efforts of NGOs, social and health teams to achieve this goal
Ludhiana: In a rare distinction, Ludhiana district has secured the top position in the state in mega vaccination drive by administering highest ever 82677 Covid-19 vaccine doses to eligible beneficiaries.
Hailing the efforts of healthcare workers and social, religious organisations in achieve this massive goal, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma said that this rare feat would further motivate our teams to continue with the same zeal and passion.
Divulging more, the DC stated that as many as 308 vaccination camps were held in across the district where the health teams administered the doses throughout the day.
He added that it is need of the hour to vaccinate at war footing to build herd immunity to combat third wave by sending teams in every nook and corner of the district to break chain.
He added that vaccination is being done on a large scale in Ludhiana and the administration is in action mode to further strengthen this protection system against COVID-19.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that vaccination is the most effective weapon against this invisible enemy and now it is our responsibility to come forward for the jabs.
He also thanked MC Councillor Mamta Ashu for taking the first leap in this direction by organising “Vaccination at Doorstep” by organising a special camp in a park in Partap Nagar locality of the city on March 26, 2021. At this camp, more than 100 people were vaccinated. Later, two-day mega camps were organised in the district on April 3-4, 2021 in which close to 50,000 people got themselves vaccinated.
The DC also appealed to people to come forward for the vaccination in huge numbers, especially encouraging youths and their parents in the camps so that further maximize the coverage.
He appreciated the health teams for this distinction.
