Ludhiana/Chandigarh News/Hibird Bicycles showcases its eco-friendly e-rickshaw at progressive Punjab Investor Summit

SAS Nagar/Chandigarh/Ludhiana, December 9, 2013: Ludhiana-based Hi-bird Bicycles, manufacturer and exporter of world renowned bi-cycles and eco-rickshaw cabs today showcased its fully indigenously developed battery operated e-rickshaws for the first time in the country at the two day “Progressive Punjab Investor Summit” being held at SAS Nagar, Mohali in Punjab.
The two-day Progressive Punjab Investor Summit has been organised by the Punjab Government to attract investments from India and abroad. The summit was inaugurated by the Punjab chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal today.
“The electric rickshaws popularly known as e-rickshaws are becoming current mode of transport in various major and small cities in the country. It is considered non polluting mode of transport that prevents the drudgery a normal rickshaw puller goes through and helps him to earn better and dignified life. Keeping in this mind we have developed affordable e-rickshaw and showcased it at the  ’Progressive Punjab Investors Summit’ organised by the Punjab government “said R.D.Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, Hi-bird bicycles which is part of  Safari Group at the investor Summit..
“As the conclave is helping bringing together a galaxy of investors, industrialists, entrepreneurs thought leaders, policy-makers, academicians, and professionals on a common platform. Seeing the investor cordial atmosphere in the state, We plan to invest about Rs 25 crore in R& D and upgrading  our existing manufacturing units in Punjab” said Sharma.
“Environment pollution is going to be one the biggest problem in the coming years and keeping that in mind we had earlier developed the affordable Eco-Cab rickshaws suited to Indian rugged conditions which are quiet popular in Punjab and Chandigarh” said Sharma.
