Obesity could be controlled scientifically and improving life style: Vandana Luthra
Ludhiana, November 27, 2019: On Anti-Obesity Day, the Ludhianvis vowed to fight against obesity. In an awareness seminar held at VLCC in Model Town noted physician Dr DJ Tulla created awareness about diseases related to obesity. He said rapidly changing lifestyle and environment has been causing obesity.
Dr Tulla advised to avoid Junk food, sugar and fried food items to control the obesity. He also advised for morning and evening walk to stay fit.
Earlier, area head Sushma Sharma, center head Prabha Mayaprasad and Dr Priyanka Sikri inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp, where VLCC staff and guests vowed to fight against obesity and also promised to make people aware of it.
VLCC founder Vandana Luthra addressed the staff and invited guests through video conferencing from Delhi and said Obesity is directly connected to our lifestyle and no one should take it lightly. She added that using scientific methods and by improving lifestyle such disease, caused by obesity, could be avoided.
Luthra added that VLCC has been observing Anti Obesity day from 2001. The drive ‘Take the orange pledge’ has been making people aware about dangers of being passive and sitting for a long and advices people for being more active.
Area head Sushma Sharma said that every third person is in India is suffering from obesity. As compared to villagers, urban people are more suffering from obesity. Irony is that in many countries people are dying due to scarcity of food and malnutrition, while in metro cities of India people are dying due to diseases causing by obesity.
VLCC staff also held an awareness march in Model Town Market, Gulati Chowk, Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Tikona Park and markets and residential areas around Gol Market of Model Town. The VLCC has also honoured people for their contribution to the cause.
