Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrates National Nutrition Month on theme `Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar bharat, Sashakt Bharat’

Grievances Redressal Cell and NSS Units Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar in collaboration with Mission Fateh-Self Help Group concluded month-long celebration of National Nutrition month by organizing a seminar.

Jalandhar, October 6, 2023: Grievances Redressal Cell and NSS Units Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar in collaboration with Mission Fateh-Self Help Group concluded month-long celebration of National Nutrition month by organizing a seminar. 
Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh welcomed the speakers with mementos. Dr. Singh, in his opening remarks, emphasised on eating local, seasonal and conventional diet. He asserted that a person's health depends on his diet and his good health benefits him not only physically but also mentally. 

First speaker of the seminar, Dr. Jaswant Kaur, Medical Officer of LKC brought forward the issue of health awareness and different diets for mal-nutritioned persons. 

Second Speaker Ramanpreet Kaur, Incharge of Project Green Sparrows discussed how waste clothes can be utilized to generate income and empower women by vocational training. 

Third speaker Lal Singh, reflected on history, usage and prevailing need of Millets and stated how these super foods can help us fight diseases like diabetes. 

Then, Shelley Singh, who worked as under-cover agent in Narcotics, California, USA, urges the youth not to fall into the trap of drugs. She opined that the youngsters should not indulge in these illegal activities as a shortcut to money. 

Later, NSS volunteers Balpreet Kaur and Kashish delivered speeches on the theme of 'Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat'. 

A cultural program was also presented by the college Gidha team. 

Prof. Satpal Singh, Chief Program Officer read the report of the activities done throughout the September month which included plantation, exhibition of millets, poster making, slogan writing and recipe contest. Winners of the contests were awarded certificates. 

At last, Prof. Gagandeep Kaur, Convenor, Grievances Cell paid vote of thanks to all present. During this program, faculty members of different departments, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and students were present in large numbers.
