Lyallpur Khalsa College commemorates Martyrdom of Shaheed Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev
The martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev was observed in a reverent manner by the Post Graduate History Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar under the guidelines of the Higher Education Department, Government of Punjab.
Jalandhar, March 23, 2024: The martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev was observed in a reverent manner by the Post Graduate History Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar under the guidelines of the Higher Education Department, Government of Punjab.
In the first phase of this event, a bicycle rally was organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Department of History, NSS Unit and NCC. The cycle rally was flagged off by Surinder Saini (Ambassador UNICEF India), son of freedom fighter Ajit Saini. College Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh, Dr. Suman Chopra Head of the Department of History, Dr. S.S. Bains Dean Sports, Dr. Karanbir Singh NCC In-charge along with a large number of students participated in this rally.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh inspired the students to contribute to social welfare by being a good human being along with studies. The second phase of the event began with a two-minute silence. It included a symposium organized by Center for Historical Studies, in which speeches, poems, patriotic songs on the life and philosophy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were presented by the students and teachers.
Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh and Chief Guest Surinder Saini offered flowers of respect to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
On this occasion, the chief guest saluted the martyrdom given by Bhagat Singh at a young age and encouraged the students to guard his thoughts. He also gave information about the life of his father Ajit Saini, who served in Shubash Chandra Bose's Azad Indian Army during the freedom struggle. In the function, students of different departments presented their written poems, speeches and patriotic songs.
Prof. Manju Joshi, Department of English and Prof. Sandeep Singh, Department of Punjabi also presented their self-composed poems.
During the third phase of the event which was orhganized by Dept. of History and NSS units, a short play, written and directed by Dr. Suman Chopra depicting the events of the lives of the martyrs, was performed. Through the play, the young generation was told the true meaning of revolution that it is their responsibility to take the country on the path of progress while maintaining the freedom that was so hard won. Student Farman and Deepika enthralled the audience with veer rasa while reciting patriotic songs.
At the end of the event, Prof. Satpal Singh, Chief Program Officer NSS thanked the audience. The event concluded with the National Anthem. Mangaljit, student of MA history, conducted the stage very well. On this occasion, College Vice-Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Registrar Prof. Navdeep Kaur, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Dr. Karanbir Singh, Prof. Sandeep Kaur, heads of various departments, teachers and a large number of students were present.
