Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar, a premier institution of Northern India, is catering the needs of society for more than 100 years. P.G. Department of Biotechnology of the college, which is founder department in Punjab, started the department in the year 2001. Based on reputed faculty and the state of the art infrastructure, LKC is the only college in Punjab which is offering M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology under GNDU.

Jalandhar, June 19, 2024: Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar, a premier institution of Northern India, is catering the needs of society for more than 100 years. P.G. Department of Biotechnology of the college, which is founder department in Punjab, started the department in the year 2001. Based on reputed faculty and the state of the art infrastructure, LKC is the only college in Punjab which is offering M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology under GNDU.
Recently, final year student of M.Sc. Biotechnology, Sharanpreet Kaur, got placement in a multinational company KP Pharma Pvt. Ltd, Zirakpur and brought proud moment for the college. She has passed B.Sc. followed by M.Sc. Biotechnology from this college.
Dr. Jaspal Singh, Principal of the college, congratulated the student. He added that this is the only college under GNDU which is running this course at PG level and having infrastructure of world level. He also said that many grants were sanctioned to this department by agencies like DBT, DST and UGC for research and development in the field of biotechnology.
President of the college, Balbir Kaur, emphasized full support to this department to do society-oriented research.
Dr. Arun Dev Sharma, Dean Research College and HOD Biotechnology congratulated the student and mentioned that in last five years our department is doing research in many fields like herbal biotechnology. Moreover, many students across the Jalandhar have been trained to solve society-oriented problems like COVID-19 and fungal infections.
