Lyallpur Khalsa College organises Workshop on Fundamentals of Remote Sensing and GIS
Post Graduate Department of Geography, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar organized a one day workshop on Fundamentals of Remote sensing and GIS. The resource person, Dr. Ripudaman Singh from Amity University, Noida, was welcomed by Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh and Dr. Pooja Rana HoD Geography with bouquet of flowers. This workshop was conducted to make students learn the basics of remote sensing technology and mapping in geographical information systems.
Jalandhar, March 29, 2024: Post Graduate Department of Geography, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar organized a one day workshop on Fundamentals of Remote sensing and GIS. The resource person, Dr. Ripudaman Singh from Amity University, Noida, was welcomed by Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh and Dr. Pooja Rana HoD Geography with bouquet of flowers.
This workshop was conducted to make students learn the basics of remote sensing technology and mapping in geographical information systems.
In the inaugural address, Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh stressed on the fact that such events boost the theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the students. He also emphasized skill enhancement among the students to make them employable in the future.
The speaker in the workshop, Dr. Ripudaman Singh, has expertise in the field of remote sensing technology. He shed light on numerous applications of remote sensing in various fields such as environmental monitoring and assessment, transport and infrastructure planning, urban planning and development, agriculture, etc. The participants were also given hands-on training in the use of software and various instruments.
The head of the department Dr Pooja Rana informed that total 6 colleges joined the workshop and more than 120 students attended the workshop with absolute enthusiasm. She also emphasized the need for such events to update knowledge of new techniques in the discipline.
At the end, she thanked the Principal and faculty of the department for the successful conduction of the event.
Prof. Onkar Singh, Prof. Mandeep Singh, and Prof. Priya Kataria were also present throughout the workshop.
