Lyallpur Khalsa College Students Clean Swept District Level Red Marathon
Department of Youth Services, Jalandhar under Govt. of Punjab organized District Level Red Run (5 Km Marathon) of Red Ribbon Clubs of Jalandhar District in collaboration with PSACS & Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar in college grounds.
Jalandhar, August 13, 2024: Department of Youth Services, Jalandhar under Govt. of Punjab organized District Level Red Run (5 Km Marathon) of Red Ribbon Clubs of Jalandhar District in collaboration with PSACS & Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar in college grounds.
The aim of the Red Run was to spread awareness regarding HIV/AIDS.
Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh in his opening address stated that comprehensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS in India among adults is less than 30% which needs to be increased through these mass events by involving youth. He advised the students to maintain a healthy lifestyle and engage one's self in physical activities.
Later, he flagged off the marathon with Assistant Director, Youth Services, Jalandhar Captain Mantej Singh Cheema.
LKC Red Ribbon Club Coordinator Prof. Satpal Singh informed that a total 100 male and female athletes of various colleges of Jalandhar participated in this 5 km run. He added that a lecture on HIV/AIDS awareness was also given. During the race, Lyallpur Khalsa College students won top positions with cash prizes. In boys category, Shamsher Singh of LKC got 1st position while Amritpal Singh and Arshdeep Singh also from LKC won 2nd & 3rd positions. Surjit Kumar from LKC and Sameer Kumar from Trinity College won consolation prizes. In the girls category, Anchal, Manisha, Geeta from LKC won 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively while Honey Bharti and Anshu got consolation prizes.
Prof. Satpal Singh informed that winners will compete at the state level soon. T-shirts were given to all the participants. During the event, Red Ribbon club members of the college actively volunteered their services.
