Lyallpur Khalsa College win Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar Trophy
It was for the 24th time that Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar won the Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar trophy known by Teja Singh Samundri Sports Trophy (General Sports Trophy Man) and created an indelible history.
Jalandhar, June 15, 2023: It was for the 24th time that Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar won the Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar trophy known by Teja Singh Samundri Sports Trophy (General Sports Trophy Man) and created an indelible history.
In this college, sports trials were taken for the session 2023-24 for 36 solo/team events. Around 700 students participated in these trials.
On 13th June 2023,trials were taken for various sports like Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Badminton, Cricket, Swimming, Water Polo, Gymnastics and Archery. Further, on 14th June, 2023 trials were taken for other sports also like Hockey, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Pencak Silat, Wushu, Fencing, Judo, Taekwondo, Rowing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Dragon Boat. On June 15, 2023 Football, Karate, Cycling, Baseball, Kabaddi (NS), Tennis, Rugby, Volleyball, Shooting (Rifle & Pistol) and Handball trials were taken. While taking trials a feeling of gusto was felt between the players.
Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur said that full concession in education and special facilities will be provided to the selected players. Beside this, worthy players will be given cash prize. These players will be mentored by the staff of the college, so that history of the college would be retained. She also said that students who want to play any sports will also be given 25% fee concession but they will have to practice daily in the ground. All the selected sports students were advised to attend their classes daily so that they can also get good education while playing.
Dr. S.S. Bains, Dean Sports informed that special facilities (like Hostel, Mess, Fee Concession and Scholarship) will be provided to selected players on the basis of their merit.
Prof. Ajay Kumar, Prof. Manvir Pal, Jagdish Singh, Amritpal Saini and other staff members were also present on this occasion.
