Jalandhar, January 13, 2024: Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar is known for achievements in the field of academics as well as in the field of sports. In the same series, the college has created a record by winning the Inter College First Runner Up General Trophy of Guru Nanak Dev University.
Balbir Kaur, President Governing Council congratulated the Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh and Dr. Simranjeet Singh Bains, Dean Sports, on this achievement.
Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh informed that in the special event held at Guru Nanak Dev University, the Chief Guest Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Cabinet Minister, Department of Sports and Youth Services, Govt. of Punjab, Vice Chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu and various officials presented the trophy to the college.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh informed that 40 sports event competitions are conducted by the university, out of which the college has won in 33 sports games. He said that the college has secured first position in 15 games, second position in 12 games and third position in 6 games. It may be mentioned that the college has won the overall championship of the general trophy of the university 24 times before. He said that our players have performed at an international level, due to which we have succeeded in achieving this feat, and all the staff and players and students deserve congratulations. He also said that the college provides free accommodation, diet and other facilities to the top ranked players due to which they perform better.
Tennis, Badminton, Weight Lifting, Kabaddi, Wrestling (Greco Roman), Wrestling (Free Style), Hockey, Athletics, Archery (Compound), Kho-Kho, Shooting (Rifle), Dragon Boat, Rowing, Canoeing, Shooting (pistol), rugby, taekwondo, volleyball, boxing, basketball, karate, archery (Recurve), Fencing, Pencak Silat, Kayaking, Cycling (track), Cycling (road), Swimming, Water Polo, Footwall, Baseball, Wushu, Gymnastics. Prof. Manvirpal, Jasdish Singh, Ashwani Kumar Thakur and Amrit Lal Saini were also present on this occasion.
