Maintain social harmony for collective efforts to promote healthy environment
IDPD and BJGVJ hold interactive session with people at Rose Garden, Ludhiana.
Ludhiana, June 6, 2022: During a public awareness programme on 5th June evening the World Environment Day the activists of Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) and Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha (BJGVJ) held interaction with the people through corner meetings at Nehru Rose Garden, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. The activity was initiated by Amarjit Singh Sekhon – Former Joint Commissioner Ludhiana by planting a sapling.
Various speakers cautioned that global warming occurring as a result of unchecked industrialization mainly by the developed countries is effecting all the life forms on earth if effective steps are not taken now we will face catastrophic impact in the next few years to come. There is urgent need for global outlook with a local responsibility on the governments and the citizens. It is imperative that we act collectively. For this it is important to maintain social harmony and not be carried away by the parochial slogans.
Expressing concern at the persistent delay in the cleaning of Buddha Nullah the speakers demanded an immediate steps in this regard. They also appeal to the corporation to supply recycled water for cleaning purposes. The forest at Matewara should be preserved. The two organisations decided to plants sapling in large number in the near future.
A quiz competition was organizing for the students who were awarded prize. Students of Khalsa Girls Sr. Sec. School who participated in a poster competition too were given prizes.
