Makar Sankranti: Saffron rice and saffron milk distributed by Shree Shyam Karuna Foundation
Foundation is committed to doing social work: Amitabh Rungta
Panchkula, January 14, 2023: On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, the social welfare Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Shree Shyam Karuna Foundation, under the leadership of the Foundation's Chief Sevadar Amitabh Rungta, organized langar of saffron rice and saffron milk for the general public at Gau Van Seva Dham, Sector 23, Panchkula. Hundreds of families were fed in this langar of the Foundation.
On this occasion, Amitabh Rungta, Chief Sevadar of Shree Shyam Karuna Foundation, while highlighting the importance of Makar Sankranti, said that it is duly mentioned in the Puranas that Makar Sankranti is also known as Uttarayan. On this day the sunshine emitted by the sun develops a saffron-like colour. Keeping this in view, 'Saffron Prasad’ is made in remembrance of ‘Surya Narayan’ and ‘Gau Mata.’ So we arranged to distribute saffron rice and saffron milk as Prasad to devotees. This is considered an auspicious way to mark Makar Sankranti.
He said that the Foundation has been doing public welfare works for the last several years and will continue to do so in future also and that the Foundation is committed to doing social work. He further added that once a week on Saturday, the Foundation has been organizing a huge Bhandara in Panchkula.
On this occasion, Gau Katha was also organized by Gau Van Seva, Panchkula, in which Speaker of Haryana Vidhan Sabha Gyan Chand Gupta and Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal also participated.
