Malerkotla Police cracks down on theft cases and drug menace
Tightening the noose around criminal elements, the Malerkotla district police have successfully cracked three back-to-back theft cases and a major drug peddling racket and nabbed the key culprit along with the stolen property worth 09 lakhs within a few hours.
Malerkotla, December 8, 2023: Tightening the noose around criminal elements, the Malerkotla district police have successfully cracked three back-to-back theft cases and a major drug peddling racket and nabbed the key culprit along with the stolen property worth 09 lakhs within a few hours.
The Sophisticated investigation techniques, strong local intelligence, and coordination between multiple police stations led to the quick resolution of all cases.
The arrested accused has been identified as Vipin Tara (29 years), son of Bharat Bushan Tara, resident of Ludhiana district.
Divulging more details to the press media, the senior superintendent of police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that as soon as the cases were reported, the Malerkotla police swung into action and deployed multiple teams to crack the cases. The main accused as a notorious criminal with multiple prior theft charges against him. He was arrested from a hideout early this morning.
In the first incident, miscreants targeted the Sewa Kendra in Malerkotla city and decamped with 16 large and small batteries after breaking the locks late last night. This was followed by theft of medical equipment including 6 batteries from a doctor's clinic in Ahmedgarh city area. In the third incident, thieves struck the warehouse of a businessman in Ahmedgarh and stole 3 quintals of iron.
The arrest also led to recovery of stolen goods totally worth Rs 09 lakhs approximately, including the 16 batteries and 3 quintals of iron. The accused has admitted to his crimes during the preliminary investigation.
In depth interrogation and leads from arrested thief led Police to bust a large illegal pharmaceutical drug supply chain being operated by accused. As many as 12 bottles of banned medicines have been seized from his possession so far. He has been booked under NDPS Act at police station Ahmedgarh Malerkotla.
The accused who has been arrested will be brought to the local court, and his remand will be obtained for further investigation into the matter at hand. It is likely that his involvement in additional theft cases will come to light.
While applauding the investigating teams for their crackdown on local property crimes and illegal drug activities, SSP Khakh has asserted that robust evidence police night patrolling, proactive information collection and community vigilance initiatives will be bolstered further.
