Malerkotla, January 2, 2023: Ahead of Republic Day, the Malerkotla Police today carried out 'Operation Eagle-III', a specialised intelligence-based crackdown to identify and nab criminals and anti-social elements across the district, ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.
Over 100 officers and personnel of the local police fanned out across various vulnerable locations in a synchronised 3-hour swoop early Tuesday morning. Separate teams covered the bus stand, railway station, hotels, restaurants, tea stalls and public spaces - aiming to smoke out history-sheeters and offenders wanted for various crimes. Suspicious persons were frisked and checked for criminal antecedents.
"Through Operation Eagle-III we have sent out a stern warning that Malerkotla has zero tolerance towards crime and criminals. The aim was to conduct preemptive strikes against rogue elements and make the district safer in run up to January 26," said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP),
Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh addressing media persons.
He added that such intelligence-led crackdowns would now become a regular feature. "We will keep launching more coordinated operations like Eagle-III to snap at the heels of law-breakers," the SSP Khakh asserted, appealing for public participation in identifying shady elements.
