Kolkata, Jan 27 (IANS) Congress West Bengal unit has accused the Mamata government of conspiring to create hurdles for party's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

State Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said not allowing party leader Rahul Gandhi's meeting on February 1 at a stadium in Baharampur in Murshidabad district, is a "conspiracy" by the state government.

"We sought the permission of the administration for conducting the meeting at Baharampur Stadium well in advance. However, after remaining silent for so long, the administration denied the permission at the last moment. This clearly hints towards a political conspiracy," Chowdhury said.

However, local Trinamool Congress leader Apurba Sarkar has rubbished the allegations claiming that the Chief Minister's programme at Baharampur Stadium was scheduled well ahead and there is no question of conspiracy behind the incident.

The Congress leadership has alleged of facing administrative hurdles in conducting Nyay Yatra rally in West Bengal since the time it entered Boxirhat under Tufanganj subdivision in Cooch Behar district on Thursday.

On that day, the original stage that was set up to welcome Rahul had to be dismantled and raised at an alternative private place following police objections. After that, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police denied permission for a public meeting of Rahul in Siliguri town on January 28.

State Congress leaders said that the schedule of Nyay Yatra at Jalpaiguri town will also have to be changed to an extent following insistence of the district police authorities.
