New Delhi, December 22, 2013: Indians have an inbuilt trait of taking their culture to wherever they go. This was stated by the Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Manish Tewari after inaugurating the cultural programmes organised by Kumaon Sabha at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh today.
The Minister said that the myriad colours of India’s varied culture are reflected in the cultural programmes organised by organisations from various parts in areas other than to which they belong. The Kumaon Sabha is duly keeping this Indian tradition alive by organising such a culture programme. The Minister appreciated the Sabha’s role in institutionalising this effort by proposing to setup up a ‘Kumaon Bhawan’ in the city.
Tewari promised all possible assistance for the proposed building.
The Kumaon Sabha Chairman, Bachhan Singh, General Secretary, M.S. Rawat and other members felicitated Manish Tewari.
Later, responding to media persons, Tewari said that it is mandatory for Multi Service Operators (MSOs) to carry all free to air channels and those not abiding with the provision will be dealt with according to law.
On late nigh content for electronic media, Tewari said that the issue will be settled in consultation with the Broadcasters’ Association.
