Jalandhar, August 16, 2013: BJP national executive member Manoranjan Kalia, MLA  and senior BJP state leader Rajat Mohindru have expressed concern over the rupee fell below the 62 level for the first time, plummeting to 62.03 against the dollar. This fall has occurred after the RBI announced additional steps on Wednesday to restrict foreign-exchange outflows and gold imports.

In a joint statement here today, they added an atmosphere of panic prevailed among the small investors. They said the small investors were worried a lot about the future.

Kalia has sought immediate intervention of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, to take steps for safeguarding the interests of the small investors.

Kalia regretted that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre had “miserably” failed to check inflation. He observed that inflation was breaking backbone of common man.

Also, Kalia urged for fresh review of economic policies of the country.
