Mariam Sheikh of Amity honored with life time achievement award for women by GISR Foundation
She was amongst 81 other women achievers
Noida: Dr. Mariam Sheikh, former Vice-President, Amity University Dubai was awarded, the "Life-Time Achievement Award for Women in Non-Profit" by Dr. DS Chauhan, Former President, Association of Indian Universities at the International Inspirational Women Awards (IIWA) 2020. She was amongst 81 other women achievers that were recognized for their contributions towards the society.
Accepting the award, Dr. Sheikh shared that she was extremely honoured to receive the recognition that would inspire her further to do better work in the field of education. She also cited that she had worked in many international organizations and her experience at Amity University, Dubai taught her a lot and inspired her to move forward in life. “I would like to thank my students, teachers, family and Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan of Amity Education Group for always guiding me. The goal of my life is still not achieved and I would like to continue to work in the field of education,” said Dr. Sheikh.
Also present on the occasion was Mrs. Asha Sharma, Mayor, Ghaziabad who congratulated all the women achievers. She also averred how women today were moving forward in life and also creating a balance in every scenario. Hoping for their bright future, Mrs Asha Sharma advised the future generations to have strength and confidence under any scenario and keep trying till they succeed.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University stated to the audience how women face challenges in both personal and professional lives and to strike a balance in both the spheres for which they have to be extremely strong from within. “It is this strength that makes us achieve success. People look for multi-taskers in every field while women are bestowed with this talent by birth,” shared Dr Shukla who also said that women are those change makers who would definitely bring about a change in the society, country and the world.
