Martyr Mandeep Singh cremated with full military honour in Payal

Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifle's Havaldar Mandeep Singh (39) who was martyred after an army vehicle was ambushed in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch on April 20, was cremated with full military honours at his native village Chankoyian Kalan of the district. A gun salute was given to the martyr by a contingent of the Army. He is survived by his mother Balwinder Kaur (60), wife Jagdeep Kaur (36) and daughter Khushdeep Kaur (11) and son Karandeep Singh (8).

Payal (Ludhiana), April 22, 2023: Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifle's Havaldar Mandeep Singh (39) who was martyred after an army vehicle was ambushed in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch on April 20, was cremated with full military honours at his native village Chankoyian Kalan of the district. A gun salute was given to the martyr by a contingent of the Army. He is survived by his mother Balwinder Kaur (60), wife Jagdeep Kaur (36) and daughter Khushdeep Kaur (11) and son Karandeep Singh (8).

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann spoke with his family on the phone and shared his heartfelt condolences and assured fulsome support to them. 

On behalf of Punjab government MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura, on behalf of District Administration DC Surabhi Malik and on behalf of Punjab Police Khanna SSP Amneet Kondal paid tributes to the martyr. Besides, Director Defence Services Welfare Department Punjab Brigadier (Retd) Bhupinder Singh Dhillon and SDM Jasleen Kaur Bhullar also paid homage.

Payal MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura said that it was only because of the great sacrifices of our martyrs that we are living in a peaceful environment and communal harmony. He said that we could never forget the sacrifices of our martyrs. Giaspura said that on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Rs 1 crore ex gratia and a government job for a family member of martyr would be ensured at the earliest. 

Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik and SSP Amneet Kondal said that martyr Mandeep Singh would always remain a source of inspiration for the people. They said that Mandeep had made supreme sacrifice and the country will remain indebted.
