Masks, gloves, thermal scanners, and sanitizers in all 614 polling booths for voters/polling staff -DC Vishesh Sarangal
Covid positive persons will vote in last hour on polling day (Feb 14)
Nawanshahr, January 11, 2022: District Election Officer-cum- Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Tuesday said that the administration would make elaborate arrangements of masks, gloves, thermal scanning, sanitizers, PPE kits, face shields, and others in all 614 polling booths of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
Presiding over a meeting with Returning Officers and officials of health department, Vishesh Sarangal said that as per directions of Election Commission of India (ECI), the administration is committed to hold free, fair, transparent and safe elections in this pandemic.
Sarangal said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar has 495257 voters who will exercise their franchise in the assembly elections and there are 614 polling booths where these Covid safety measures would be in place to ensure safety of the voters.
He said that voters will have to wear mask mandatory, maintain social distancing besides thermal screening would be ensured at the entrance of all polling booths. The voters would be given glove for one hand which they will use for signing and pressing the button of voting machine.
Deputy Commissioner said that those recording high temperature or having suspicious symptoms would be asked to come and vote in the last hour on polling day (February 14). Sarangal told that the safety of voters and polling personnel is our prime concern and asked the health officials to ensure arrangements for the Bio-medical waste management of the waste generated in all these polling booths.
He asked Civil Surgeon to form the teams of required health staff which would accompany with the polling teams on voting day.
District Election Officer also ordered health department to hold five special camps of precautionary dose for all polling staff in each sub-division.
Prominent among present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, SDMs Dr Baljinder Singh Dhillon, Navneet Kaur Bal, Deepak Rohilla, Assistant commissioner Deepankar Garg, Civil Surgeon Dr Davinder Dhanda and others.
