Ludhiana, May 2, 2024: With district administration intensifying the voter awareness campaign across the district, a mass awareness drive was conducted at police lines on Thursday. 

Working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney different activities including signature campaign etc were organised to spread awareness and pledge was also administered to the residents urging them to vote in the general elections. 

Awareness drive was also conducted in residential quarters of police lines and families of the police personnel were urged to exercise their Right to Vote for strengthening democracy. 

Voter registration camp was also organised for enrolling first time voters. The eligible voters were also apprised about the voter registration process for the first time voters. The eligible first time voters can use 'Voter Helpline' mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters. Voter registration for Lok Sabha-2024 elections can be done till May 4, 2024.

DEO Sakshi Sawhney said that a large number of voter awareness activities are being organised across the district under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program to encourage the voters.

The aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).

DEO Sawhney said that the district administration and police are committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and the residents should cast their vote without any fear and without coming under anyone's influence.

She further said that every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).
