Shivratri Mahotsva Committee, Ludhiana taking out a massive 26th Shobha Yatra from Ludhiana city markets on Saturday, in view of the festival of Mahashivrati tomorrow.

Ludhiana, March 9, 2013: Shivratri Mahotsva Committee, Ludhiana took out a massive 26th Shobha Yatra from the city markets here today, in view of the festival of Mahashivrati tomorrow.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari congratulated people on the occasion of Shivratri and prayed for their prosperity and progress. He said the festivals played a key role in increasing mutual brotherhood.

The yatra began from Daresi Grounds and passed from different city areas. Thousands of devotees participated in the shobha yatra- the main attraction of which was silver-made `Rath’.

Tewari lauded the organisers for continuing the event even during the era of militancy in Punjab.

Among others, BJP state president Kamal Sharma, former Punjab Minister Satpal Gosain, DCC (Urban) president Pawan Dewan, BJP district president Parveen Bansal, LMC deputy  mayor RD Sharma and several religious leaders including Swami Nigambodh and others participated in the event.

Credit for the success of the event goes to the organisers  including Sunil Mehra, Mohinder Aggarwal, Ashwani Gupta, Ashwani Kharbanda, Ashwani Mahajan, Ajay Mittal, Gulshan Tandon, Sanjay Gautam, Uma Dutt Sharma, Parveen Sharma and Sanjay Gupta.
