Chandigarh, November 11, 2019: Central office of Indian orthopaedic association, New Delhi on Sunday announced to elect Dr.(Prof) Ramesh Kumar Sen as Head of Indian Orthopaedic Association. Dr Sen is presently working as a senior director and head of institute of orthopaedics at Max Hospital, Mohali

In an online election conducted all over the country , Dr Ramesh Sen polled 81 % of the total votes casted defeating two other candidates . He will first take over as vice president of association in 2019 and as president in 2021.

Institute of Orthopaedics is a body of more than 14000 orthopaedic surgeons of India.

Dr Sen had joined PGIMER in 1993 as Assistant Professor and retired as Professor in 2014. During his career spanning over 30-yr, he has authored about 200 research papers and written 14 book chapters, , delivered more than 500 guest lectures including more than 50 in other countries and has five research patents to his credit.

Dr Sen has been awarded more than 25 oration awards both at international and at national level including prestigious 1st Golden Jubilee oration Award of Indian Orthopaedic Association.

He has been invited as visiting Professor in universities in USA, Canada and Germany. He has also the credit of being post graduate examiner in many countries.

Dr Sen has expertise in joint replacement surgery including rich experience of handling revision arthroplasty surgery. He has demonstrated his surgical skill in many live surgical training courses both outside and inside the country.

He has earlier been the chairman of research committee of Indian Orthopaedic Association, president of North Zone Orthopaedic Association and Association of pelvi-acetabular surgeons of India as well. .
