Maximize field visits for better performance - DC directs officials

Ludhiana, December 30, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal instructed officers from all departments on Monday to increase their field visits to effectively review on-going programs, schemes, and projects of the Punjab government.

While chairing a meeting with department heads at Bachat Bhawan, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of facilitating residents in their day-to-day activities and ensuring good governance. He mentioned that these visits would not only benefit the public but also allow officers to monitor the performance of their subordinates in the field.

Jorwal expressed that these visits should focus on providing supportive supervision for implementing projects, rather than on fault-finding. The goal is to identify and address any shortcomings in departmental operations. He further noted that these field visits would enhance officers' abilities to perform their duties effectively, improve departmental functioning, and foster a better understanding of ground realities. He encouraged officers to conduct inspections to evaluate the work of their subordinate staff.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that regular, pre-announced visits should primarily aim to resolve issues encountered by the departments and their staff.

Among those present at the meeting were Additional Deputy Commissioners Amarjit Bains, Rohit Gupta, Shikha Bhagat, Kulpreet Singh, as well as all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and heads of various departments.
