Ludhiana, June 4, 2019: While chairing a review meeting of Mission Tandrust Punjab in his office here today, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr Sanyam Aggarwal today directed the Municipal Corporation officials to issue maximum challans of people who pollute the Budha Nullah. He also directed them to ensure that the cleaning of Budha Nullah should be their main priority.

During the meeting, Mr Aggarwal stated that strict action should be taken against residents, dairy owners as well as industrial houses etc that pollute the Budha Nullah as well as our natural resources of water by dumping their waste into underground water. He said that no person would be allowed to pollute underground water. He also appealed to the residents that for the sake of future generations, one should never pollute underground water as well as our natural sources of water, besides wastage of water should also be checked.

He also discussed the action plan prepared by the Forest and Panchayat Departments regarding planting of 550 tree saplings in each village under the 550th year celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He directed that places for planting these tree saplings in schools, cremation grounds and panchayat land should be identified and later, social organisations as well as NGOs should be asked to ensure that these tree saplings are properly maintained so that they bloom into fully grown trees and help save our environment for the future generations. He stated that the work of planting 550 tree saplings in each village has to be completed by September 2019, so the Panchayat department should send a detailed report regarding status of digging of pits, water, manure, security and maintenance of saplings after gathering details from all BDPOs.

While directing the health department officials, Mr Sanyam Aggarwal said that as the summer season is at its peak, the chances of spread of diseases are also high. So to ensure that the residents get best quality eatables, the health department officials should take daily samples of eatables from different places randomly and strict action should be taken against those indulging in adulteration of food products. He also directed them to hold regular checks to stop problem of drug addiction.

The ADC (D) directed the health department as well as Deputy Director (Dairy) to take regular samples from dairies of milk and milk products and action should be taken against those indulging in adulteration. He appealed to the Ludhiana residents to contact health department and deputy director dairy if they want to get milk samples checked. ADC (D) Mr Sanyam Aggarwal directed his staff to issue show cause notices to the departments such as transport, cooperative and PPCB, that remained absent from today’s meeting without any intimation. He also directed all concerned departments to send their progress reports on time. During today’s meeting, the progress of work related to Horticulture, Local Government, DEO (Elementary and Secondary), District Programme Officer, Agriculture, Water Resources and Rural Development was also discussed.
