Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi inaugurates the Flight, a commemorative sculptor celebrating women’s power

Hyderabad, March 19, 2023: Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi along with Pinky Reddy, the city’s well-known philanthropist, Shubhraa Maheshwari Chairperson FICCI FLO Hyderabad inaugurated the FLIGHT, a commemorative sculpture celebrating women’s power in the junction in front of the main gate of KBR Park in the city on Sunday morning.

 
The sculptor brings beauty to the KBP Park, said Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi speaking to the gathering immediately after unveiling it by releasing the balloons into the air. FLO is a good organization. I have associated with it for a long time. I am slowly getting to know more about their activities. Yet at times, I feel like joining the organisation, but, you know, I hardly get time. Maybe when I leave my office as Mayor, I will explore joining the organization in the future.
 

Speaking further, the Mayor added that she got into politics through her social work, which she keeps close to her heart.

 
Pinky Reddy described the project as another feather in the cap of FLO. The Sculptor looks beautiful, more so in front of lovely KBR Park.
 

Addressing the brief gathering immediately after unveiling the Flight by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Shubhraa Maheshwari, Chairperson of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) said, the FLIGHT is a representation of a female guardian angel. The sculpture transforms itself - from the front, the sculpture depicts armour for a woman’s body and from the side, it depicts wings like an angel. Signifying the form of a female warrior, the sculpture also represents the idea of women’s strength, safety and freedom

 
The Sculptor is 12 feet tall and is made of stainless steel structure. Sculptor Designer Sharsha Reddy is the designer and sculptor. The specialists used a Corten Steel base to elevate the sculptor. The Sculptor is made in Hyderabad. It took three weeks to implement the project.
 

The beauty of this structure is it’s made by a woman, designed by a woman, conceptualised by a woman, landscaping is done by a woman, representing women’s organisations and being inaugurated by a woman!
 

Shubhraa Maheshwari also thanked HMDA, GHMC and the Government of Telangana for their support in promoting women's entrepreneurship in Telangana.
