MC gets new machines for cleaning of sewer lines

Ludhiana: To ensure that manual scavenging is completely eradicated from the city and to maintain the sewer lines, new jetting machines have been purchased by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana. These machines were flagged off by Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu from MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar, here today. These machines would be deputed in all four zones of the city.
Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, MLA Mr Sanjay Talwar, MC Councillor Mrs Mamta Ashu, MC Commissioner Mrs Kanwal Preet Kaur Brar, MC Additional Commissioner Mr Sanyam Aggarwal, MC Additional Commissioner Mr Rishi Pal Singh, Zonal Commissioners Mr Navraj Singh Brar, Mr Kulpreet Singh, Mrs Swati Tiwana and Mr Neeraj Jain, besides several others were also present on the occasion.
While providing information, Mr Ashu informed that with the directions of the Punjab government, MC Ludhiana is ensuring that the guidelines of Manual Scavengers Act 2013 are followed completely. He said that under the Ludhiana Smart City Project, eight big and 24 small jetting machines have been purchased by MC Ludhiana, which is the biggest civic body of the state. He said that with the help of these machines, a large number of residents would be benefitted as the MC would be able to clean the sewer lines in a much effective manner.
He directed the MC officials that keeping in mind the monsoon season, the work on cleaning of sewer lines should be started immediately so that the residents do not face any problems of choked sewers whenever it rains. He also directed all officials to ensure that they personally supervise the working of the machines on personal level.
