Ludhiana, December 1, 2022: With encroachments done by shopkeepers and street vendors resulting in traffic bottlenecks in Daresi, Meena Bazar and adjoining areas of old city, Municipal Corporation (MC) and traffic police conducted a joint anti-encroachment drive in the respective areas for the second consecutive day on Thursday.
While the civic body removed encroachments from roadsides and confiscated the material, traffic police issued challans against the traffic violators, especially those parking their vehicles haphazardly on roadsides.
MC Zonal Commissioner (Zone A), Neeraj Jain stated that the civic body had received a number of complaints against the encroachments done by shopkeepers and street vendors, due to which traffic jams are witnessed in these areas.
The drive was again conducted on Thursday to check resurfacing of encroachments. If the encroachers remain adamant, the civic body will also issue hefty challans against the violators in the coming days.
