Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day) was observed in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) with mass reading of Preamble of Indian Constitution, and inspiring address by Rajya Sabha Member(s) of Parliament Kiran Choudhry and Ram Chander Jangra on the salient features of the Indian Constitution.

Rohtak, November 26, 2024: Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day) was observed in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) with mass reading of Preamble of Indian Constitution, and inspiring address by Rajya Sabha Member(s) of Parliament Kiran Choudhry and Ram Chander Jangra on the salient features of the Indian Constitution.

This programme was organized jointly by MDU and Rohtak District administration.

Rajya Sabha M.P. Kiran Choudhry in her inspiring address highlighted the salient features of the Indian Constitution, especially the Directive Principles of State Policy and the provision of fundamental duties. She said that the younger generation must take inspiration from the Indian constitution.

Rajya Sabha M.P. Ram Chander Jangra threw light on the historical development leading to the establishment of the Constituent Assembly, and creation of the Indian Constitution. He explained the socio-economic dimensions of the Indian constitution.

MDU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh, in his presidential address, said that the Indian Constitution is not a mere social-legal document but a lighthouse to illuminate the path of the policy makers and the decision makers of the nation. All the speakers paid wholesome tributes to the Chairperson of the Drafting Committee of the Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedker. Floral tributes too were paid to the portrait of Dr. Ambedkar in the programme.

Dean, Academic Affairs Prof. A. S. Maan delivered the welcome address. Registrar Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja expressed the vote of thanks. Director Public Relations Sunit Mukherjee conducted the programme.

The winners of Poster Making and slogan writing competition (s) were given prizes in the function.

Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata, ADC Narendra Kumar, other district officers, Chief Warden (Girls) Prof. Sapna Garg, Director (UCS) Prof. Vinita Shukla, NSS Prof. Co-ordinator Dr. Savita Rathee, YRC Prof. Co-ordinator & Director Outreach Dr. Anju Dhiman alongwith Deans, HODs, faculty members, NCC cadets, NSS/YRC/Outreach volunteers, students, distinguished citizens, etc. attended the Constitution Day program.       

A film on the Indian Constitution was screened in the programme. On this occasion, a book exhibition on the Indian Constitution was also organised in the Vivekananda Library of MDU.
