Rohtak, July 26, 2024: Glowing tributes were paid to brave hearts of Kargil War on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas by eminent speakers in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) today. This programme was held as part of the Induction programme-2024 being organised in the MDU.

 

MDU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh in his presidential address paid homage to the Kargil War Martyrs. He said that the immense sacrifice by Indian Armed Forces personnel paved the way for India’s victory in the Kargil War. He said that students must always remember the sacrifices made by our brave-hearts and develop a patriotic mindset.  

 

The keynote speaker in today’s programme, Prof. Dhruva Chaudhary, eminent medical professional, Dean Academic Affairs of Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences (Rohtak) said that we, the citizens of India, are safe and secure due to the herculean duties of our Armed Forces. He exhorted the students to conquer their fears, confront the problems of life like a soldier, develop confidence, and always remember that nation comes first.

 

In his inspirational address, Prof. Dhruva Chaudhary urged the students to be conscious, dutiful citizens who think of society and nation. He said that youth and students must take inspiration from the Armed Forces, especially from the brave-hearts of Kargil War, and develop the power of perseverance, the power of resilience, and the power of determination to achieve success in life.

 

Group Commander (HQ), NCC (Rohtak) Brigadier Harbir Singh speaking as Guest of Honour, shared the live experience of Kargil War. Notably, Brig. Harbir Singh had taken part in the Kargil War operations in 1999 as a young army officer. Recalling the challenging operation and the risk of life with death staring in eyes, Brig. Harbir Singh said the Armed Forces teach one to take decisions in crucial moments of life. He said that the younger generation must be proud of our Armed Forces for their great contribution towards the nation.

 

Dean Students’ Welfare Prof. Randeep Rana, convener of the programme, said the whole nation is proud of the supreme sacrifice made by Armed Focus during Kargil war where 527 personnel made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives.

 

MDU NSS Co-ordinator Dr. Savita Rathee delivered the welcome address. Vote of Thanks was expressed by Director, University Outreach Prof. Anju Dhiman. The programme was conducted by Dr. Kavita (UIET).

 

A melody of patriotic songs was performed by the Team of Dept. of Music led by Dr. Mukesh Verma, Dr. Ashok Verma, and other singers/musicians. A documentary on the glorious contribution of the Armed Forces in the Kargil War was screened in the programme. The programme left an emotional, patriotic, inspirational effect on the students as well as all present in the Tagore Auditorium.

 

Deans, Head of Departments, Faculty Members, NCC cadets, NSS and YRC volunteers, newly admitted students of UG four year/ Five-­year Integrated programmes attended the Kargil Vijay Diwas function today.
