Rohtak, November 10, 2024: Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of MDU, Rohtak organized a Media Interaction program.

 

As Distinguished Speaker, Prof. Rabindranath Manukonda from the Centre for Media Studies, JNU, New Delhi discussed the necessary skills used in the media industry. Prof. Rabindranath Manukonda said that media students should master the art of communication in both written and oral forms. They should be aware of current events and keep an eye on the changing social, economic environment. Being familiar with new technological developments and technical knowledge is also very important for today's media student. He said that research scholars should publish their research work in reputed journals and build a strong foundation in all aspects of research.

 

Prof. Bandana Pandey from the Department of Mass Communication Studies, Gautam Buddha University, Noida attended the program as special guest. She said that Artificial Intelligence has made life comfortable and easy, but along with this many dangers like cyber bullying, fake news, misinformation, misleading information have also arisen. She discussed the changing nature of journalism, which has gone from the era of teleprinters to today's digital media era. She asked the students to become masters of technology, not slaves of it. Data gives credibility and authenticity to the story, but the beauty of the story should not be lost due to this.

Prof. Bandana Pandey emphasized on following media ethics in digital media. She asked the research scholars to use theoretical framework in their work and use their research for social welfare.

 

Prof. Harish Kumar, HOD Journalism and Mass Communication, MDU gave the welcome address. He said that the media industry and media education scenario is changing. Artificial Intelligence cannot be a substitute for human touch in any work. The cultural nuances of society cannot be identified without human sensibilities. Therefore, AI should be used carefully. Appreciating the vast experience of both the guest experts, Prof. Harish Kumar said that such academic discussions on media discourse would prove to be extremely beneficial for students and research scholars.

 

Assistant Professor Dr. Naveen Kumar expressed his gratitude. Students Nitika, Sarita and research scholars Ravikant and Kuldeep asked questions to the experts. Research scholar Priya Kusum conducted the program.
