Medical Education Minister OP Soni inaugurates Advanced Orthopaedic Institute, Aykai Hospital

Ludhiana: A dedicated centre for Joint replacements, Sports injuries and fracture treatment, AOI “Advanced Orthopaedic institute” at Aykai Hospital was inaugurated on Sunday by Chief Guest OP Soni, Cabinet minister, Medical Education and Research Punjab.
Dr Baldev Aulakh, renowned Urologist, transplant surgeon and Chairman Aykai Hospital welcomed chief guest and said that this institute would be providing complete Orthopaedic care under one roof.
Dr Harpreet Singh Gill, Director AOI said that this institute would be unique in the sense that the world’s best and latest technology of computers/ navigation/robotics would be used for knee, hip and shoulder replacements, sports injuries and for fracture treatment by an experienced team of doctors. Usually we see this concept in the western countries, but we are bringing such expertise and technology here in Punjab.
Minister OP Soni saw the demonstration of Robotic/Computer Navigation knee replacement and Hip systems. He said that he was happy that people of Punjab, Himachal and Haryana would benefit from the expertise of the Orthopaedic team and as medical education minister feel proud of such doctors and Aykai hospital. He also said that because of such centers of excellence in Punjab we are seeing a reverse trend with patients even coming from USA, UK and Canada to get their knee or hip replacements done here. He congratulated the team AOI, comprising of Dr HS Gill, Dr Manmohan Singh, Dr SD Abrol and Dr Rohit Singla and said that along with the technology and machines, what also matters is the experience, knowledge and skills of the doctors.
Further commenting, Soni said, I know Aykai hospital being best for urology and Transplant surgeries under leadership of Dr Aulakh, I congratulate him for creating best Orthopedic institute under Dr HS Gill’s leadership who is a well-known Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon.
