Ludhiana, March 20, 2015: Amidst an ambience of solemnity and grandeur, Annual Convocation of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana was held today in Dumra Auditorium. Medical graduates of the MBBS Batch 2009 were awarded degrees and prizes. The chief guest, during the convocation, was Prof (Dr) Raj Bahadur, Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid university of Health Sciences, Faridkot. 
Dr GS Wander (Chief Cardiologist, Hero DMC Heart Institute) extended warm welcome to the chief guest and introduced him to the audience.
The convocation began with the welcome address by President of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Sunil Kant Munjal. He congratulated the graduates and asked them to fulfill their duty with utmost dedication and within the limits of medical ethics. In his address, Sh Munjal said that Dayanand  Medical College has a long tradition of pursuing excellence in medical education and providing quality health care for the people of the region. it has been a glorious fifty years  of long journey for Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana blossoming from “Arya Medical School” to the present state-of-art leading tertiary care medical college & hospital.
Principal Dr Sandeep Puri read out the annual report of the college and highlighted the achievements and progress made by the esteemed faculty and various departments in the last one year. In his message, Dr Puri said, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Always follow your dreams and believe in yourself ’.
The chief guest- Prof (Dr) Raj Bahadur extended warmest congratulations to the graduating students who will be taking up the responsibility of delivering quality healthcare to the society. In his address, the chief guest said that the profession of Medicine is prestigious, with ample scope for growth. He advised the fresh graduates that thereare no shortcuts to attain success and urged them to attain good results through hard work and sincere dedication. Appreciating the progress made by DMCH, the chief guest said that the institute, with its graduate, post-graduate and super-specialty programmes, is one of the most prestigious medical institutions of the region.   Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina administered the Hippocratic Oath to the fresh graduates before presenting them their degrees. The gold medal for the best graduate was presented to Dr Akash Batta and the silver medal to Dr Simran Sidhu. The Best All-Rounder and Best Intern Award also went to Dr Ravika.
The chief guest awarded 60 prizes and 15 medals to the students of various batches who had excelled in various subjects.
Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta said that Dayanand Medical College & Hospital is truly a proud symbol of the advances made in the area of medical science and health care. He also added that it is an honour today for these medical graduates to be associated with such prestigious institution. Dr GS Wander proposed a vote of thanks to the dignitaries present on the occasion.
Vice-Presidents of DMCH Managing Society Gian Chand Dhawan and Amrit Nagpal, Secretary of the Society Prem Kumar Gupta, Nominee, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences-Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh, Treasurer Satish Sanwalka, members of the Managing Society, Medical Superintendents Dr Sandeep Sharma, Dr Ashwani Chaudhary, Chief Cardiologist Dr GS Wander and Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal were among those present.
